When I’m old one day ......

When telling our son we would like to have a page on our website called ‘When I’m old one day ...’ he quipped ........ “One day?”

I admired my two Sisters-in-law for the patient and loving way they cared for their mother, until her death this year, at the age of 93!

Years ago I saw an advert in a magazine of an organisation which cared for the elderly.  “Beware of Child Abuse”.   What a play of words, and yet so true!

A lady who was caring for her mother who suffered from Alzheimer's sobbed and confessed to a friend, that she felt so guilty if she lost her patience with her mom Jean on occasions, and was afraid her mom would be hurt by her behaviour. Her friend encouraged her. “Don’t do that to yourself, you are a loving caring person, and your mom would have forgotten the incident moments after it happened!” ......... Carers of the elderly are the most precious people!

When I’m frail and old one day, I may not be able to verbally express my love to my children, family and friends ......... so I’m telling you now!

I love and appreciate you!

Flowers given to someone is a gesture of love and appreciation.  So too are actions, a word of encouragement, a hug or a touch on the shoulder, being there for a friend in a time of sorrow - being there in a a time a joy.  At my death, maybe flowers will not be necessary, I have been given so much by so many during my lifetime!
